JAMC have ALWAYS been boring live. And I can't believe their Webster Hall tickets are $45.

Chris

Yup, I'd pretty much agree - although I really enjoyed the LCD Soundsystem show. Arctic Monkeys really surprised me with how good they were. Way better than any of their NYC shows. They always came off as surly before, but seemed to be actually enjoying themselves and this transmitted to the crowd. Unfortunately, I will have to sell internal organs to see AF next week. Will totally be worth it though. They were truly awesome in the literal sense of the word. I watched with some hardcore Rage fans who gave the ulitmate compliment of "Maaan - those Canadians were INTENSE"

The Rapture were so fucking amazing!

why do you have to hate on lcd so much?
sorry that you "dont get it", but that doesnt mean that he sucks.
i was at the friday bowery show in march and it was fucking amazing. and do you have to refer to lcd fans as "sheep"? sounds like a sick weekend otherwise.

Jeff

I have nothing against LCD Soundsystem. James Murphy is an incredible man and he's made some incredible music. I just don't like this new album one bit and am constantly being told that I am wrong for thinking so. Or that I "don't get it."

So when I second guess myself, start to think that maybe I just need to see them live again to understand the fuss and thereby get my hopes up for a show that lets me down in every conceivable way, excuse me for being a bit frustrated when I recap their set.

And yes, it was very sheepish to see thousands of confused and disappointed looking people herd out of the tent during "New York I Love You" like it was "New York, New York" after a Yankees loss. Nothing against those who like it, but surely you'll agree that a large chuck of people were there solely because of the recent flurry of hype built up around them. I mean, Shit, I was even one of them.

KEXP John:

"We then ran over to the Sahara tent to see LCD Soundsystem which turned out to be my highlight of the weekend. The response was insane to LCD, the entire tent jumping up and down, singing and cheering the whole hour, palm trees in the background. Heaven, I tell you."

Hey Jeff,

I'm also going to Sasquatch and I can't wait. Since I also live in the "Central Village" area, I guess we are representing.

What the?

Gotta say, the concensus from the attendees I know was that LCD was hands down the highlight of the festival. I work in sound, and I have had several, unrelated, 50+ year olds, who are highly paid mixers come up to me and say that it was one of the best shows they had ever seen in their lives. I've talked to at least 30 people who were there and the response was universally ecstatic. And as for New York I Love You to close the set... it was one of the ballsiest things I've ever seen in my life. I never felt prouder of an artist than that moment. JM just refusing to soften his music in any way... brilliant, blinding, singular. It's no coincendce that their upcomming LA shows are selling out like a U2 concert.
