Eh, it's late and I just had to struggle through writing a review of the Futureheads at Motherfucker that I attended with about 2 liters of redbull vodka running through me. Knew I was having a good time, knew the band was playing, so I credited the band for the former. This is why I rarely drink when I go to shows anymore. Especially ones I have to write about.
So...a few songs I've been listening to over the last couple days/weeks/24 hours...
Thursday - Running From the Rain (mp3)
A friend told me when it came out new Thursday album would be one of my top 5 albums of the year when it is all said and done. So far, this is not the case. It's pretty good, but I haven't spent much time with it yet. This song is the clear cut standout. Very progressive, decidedly less emo than the rest. Better than anything off that Angels and Airwaves record. I imagine that doesn't mean much to most who may be reading this, but if we're gonna create a pop-prog genre, a pecking order must be established.
Panda and Angel - Dangerous (mp3)
Just got this EP yesterday, and I liked it. That's their picture above. I hear a little bit of Silversun Pickups in there, but with an actual girl singing. Only listened through once, and I forgot to put it on my iPod today, but I thought it was really good last night before I went to bed.
Slowlands - Nigel (mp3)
Very overlooked track on what is still one of my favorite albums of the year, which has found yet another life in my rotation. I don't talk about them as much since I started working with them, but this is still really a great record.
Bishop Allen - The Same Fire (mp3)
New EP came out today. Still love these guys. Another great single. They sound a but maturer this time around I feel. You can buy the album here.
