I wrote a couple weeks ago about this band Cities. I think, while I kept on insisting that I did like the music, it still came off as a tad negative (perhaps compared to the happy flower gay gay I am about most bands I dig.) I went to go see them at Northsix last night because I was pretty impressed from what I caught from the Fader tent at Southby. Very very glad I did. Had great set of songs that had stuck in my head much better than I anticipated from really only listening to it a few times a couple weekends ago. Needless to say I've gone back to listen again. I still stand by my Muse comparison, but seriously...there are worse things. This guy's voice absolutely soars live and the rest of the band played their heart out to a crowd of maybe 40-50 troopers who stuck around for the late set. Really impressive stuff. I highly recommend either swinging by Soundfix today or the Knit tap bar tonight to see them before they head back home.
Listen here if you haven't already.
Yeah, good guitars, and the guy can actually sing. I like it a lot. I'd go see them (if I wasn't going elsewhere) tonight in a heartbeat. A snare beat. A kick drum beat. Something like that. Thanks for this.

Yeah, I'm glad I went out there, glad I stayed late, glad it didn't rain. Cities was really solid, the guys in the band are really nice and well educated on college hoops, and meeting Glenn and Torr from Yep Roc was a pleasure.

In many cases, my most important resolutions come paired with the opposite resolutions, and yet both are important to my happiness.
