Busy day at work then a long night, so this is coming a bit late. Sorry bout that.
#16 Spoon - Gimmie Fiction
One of the most listenable albums of the year. There's a lot of music that I dig that can be a bit polarizing. Not everyone can get in to eclectic bands like Wolf Parade or Clap Your Hands. And that's just the way it is. I don't think I've ever met anyone who can't get into Spoon. They just make perfect pop music. This album is, from start to finish, pretty flawless. There are a few standout tracks Like Monsieur Valentine and I Summon You, but the whole album is frighteningly consistent. It's music that fits any kind of mood or situation, and its versatility is one of it's greatest appeals.

#15 The Decemberists - PicaresqueI was never a big Decemberists fan until I saw Colin play his solo shows at the Fez last January. Hearing all these songs completely stripped down let me concentrate on the tune and the lyrics, rather than their whole carnival aesthetic. From there I was hooked. I went out and got all their albums and have seen them play I think 5 times since. This album doesn't contain any of my absolute favorite Decemberist tracks, but, much like Spoon, the entire work is near flawless. There aren't any songs I skip or skim over. Every track demands your attention, and the whole is much much greater than the sum of it's parts.
