The show here in Northampton was great nonetheless. Many people did leave after CYHSY. so many of them were of high school age, and as such it was a school night. Maybe half left after CYHSY. That was dissapointing, but nonetheless, many of the kids there were not familar with the National. I asked.

They were all there to see CYHSY. Its the band they all keep hearing about. It was an odd show, what with CYHSY recieving nuch love from the crowd, and the National playing a very melancholy set, without much energy from the crowd.

You know whats else was wierd? They are filming for a doc on this tour. for the National. I wonder how they'll work this footage into it, if at all.

I think some of the CYHSY band members are from the Northhampton area also, so maybe some of their families and friends left. I saw the National play in Philly last night and it was amazing. Not many people lefty after CYHSY, though there were some. Alec from CYSHY is from Philly so perhaps that was part of it. I have read that the National and the Clap guys are friends so I think it will all be fine.

hmm...the comment about family members makes sense. I do not know if any memebers used to live here in Hamp, but I do know that I saw many people that looked like they might be parents and or relatives. In otherwords, they lookes nothing like most of the fans. Older, conservatively dressed, etc...

I thought to myself, "it looks like family."

an interesting twist to this whole thing now. it seems pitchfork thinks the national is the better of the two bands, at least live, even though they started the cyhsy buzz. this is nice to see. the "indie rock doubleheader of the year."
