I really don't get it. Maximo Park came out with one of my favorite albums of the last year (Top 10 for sure, potentially top 5), but I've now seen them all three times that they've been to New York, and have been completely underwhelmed at each show. I get excited at the beginning of each song, but am bored by the time the second verse comes around. It's certainly not for lack of effort, because Paul Smith is a lively and entertaining frontman, but there is something very lackluster about their show. Can't put my finger on it. I don't know of any other band that is so amazing on record, yet so inexplicably boring live. Strange.
On a positive note, The Cloud Room were excellent. That new song they played was one of my favorites.
i had a ticket but didn't go. is the keyboard player still making those rediculous karate chop moves? he needs to keep his hands on his organ.

I hate it when that happens.
I was underwhelmed with Bloc Party at webster hall, which is why I skipped them at Roseland.

yeah he was doing the karate chops, kind of lame. And then his keyboard went out and couldn't play during the encore.

Someone needs to videotape him, show it to the band, and tell them to stop doing that. Then they can go film the Delays and tell the same thing to their keyboardist.
