You know what I thought when I first saw the Blood Brothers? They have some really great songs, but I just wish they wouldn't scream so fucking much. So needless to say I was thrilled when I first heard of Neon Blonde, the year old side project of BB's Johnny Whitney and Mark Gajadhar. It's like a downtempo hardcore. Still has all the melody, emotion and pain without nearly as much of the brain-piercing shrieks. Kind of perfect, in a way.

I was really excited when I heard they'd be playing their first show EVER this year at CMJ. As posted on their Myspace Page:
hey yo our first show
so we are playing the Dim Mak showcase in NYC at North 6. I think it's September 15th-ish.
it's our first show....its for CMJ so I apologize to anyone who wants to come but doesn't want to pay the 13 gazillion dollars it costs to get a pass. we also are going to play a show in seattle and a couple in LA around then...I'll let you all know when it's confirmed.

This is becoming sort of a joke. So far, literally every band I was hoping to catch at CMJ is playing on the 15th. All at venues smaller than what they would normally play. As if to rub it in. Here's the complete conflict list so far...
Arcade Fire (With Wolf Parade?) (Summerstage)
Neon Blonde (Northsix)
World Leader Pretend (Sin-e)
She Wants Revenge (Pianos)
Cloud Cult (169)
Silversun Pickups (Ace of Clubs)
The Wrens (Mercury Lounge)
Hopefully they'll release the official sets and times soon, so I can start to figure out how many of these I can actually make it to.
u know i love ya, just wanna touch ya...hard to beat...
