I need to goto more concerts where the lead singer thanks everyone for coming into the city on a weeknight. Good times at the old office. Jerry gave me the heads up about Kiss Kiss last week, and it's been the only thing keeping me from listening to the new Arcade Fire on repeat since then. Can't exactly tell if they're actually a good band or just an extremely enjoyable one, but the distinction is more or less irrelevant. They are college age, my guess would be. The fanbase was younger still. But that comes with the sound, which has enough affected, theatrical emo in it to appeal to that type, yet enough off kilter rock to still appeal to the Yeti set.

They were fun and sounded tight. The bass player, who seemed like a Tim Riggins meets Gerard Way type, was the star and had no issues plowing into the crowd and spazzing out like one of those antique sparking toy tops. The rest of the band held it together till the final song, where the lot of them collapsed into a big wrestlefest on the floor. Oh boys...

So the band has promise, for sure. They certainly sound bigger than the room they were playing in. Whether they emerge on their own or become the Ra Ra Riot of the Panic!/Muse set is yet to be seen. But they're just kids, really. The unavoidable fact is, they bring it live and I really can't stop listening to the album. You can't ask for much more than that.
