Been listening to the Octopus Project's first album a lot the last couple weeks. Was really excited to see that they were in town opening for The Starlight Mints and Dios Malos. Got to Bowery very early (the sun was still peaking through the back window...very CMJesque) and these guys were already rocking out hard. I mean sweat dripping, hair flying rock. No words, if you aren't aware, except for some very gracious thank you's between songs to the headliners for getting them into great venues such as Bowery, and to the fans for coming out early to check them out. Lots of instrument switching, theremin jams, giant green monsters and Plug Awards props. They brought the whole package with them. (Including an extra member? I thought it would just three of them.) Really great set. I hope they come back soon.
Here's a video from their show at Coachella:
And some mp3s. The First two are from the new album, the next two are from the last one.
The Octopus Project - Music is Happiness (mp3)
The Octopus Project - The Adjustor (mp3)
The Octopus Project - The Way Things Go (mp3)
The Octopus Project - The Righteous Ape and Bird (mp3)
More pictures after the jump...

Octopus Projects new album is great. Even better live though. Have you heard Talk Demonic from Portland????
