(pic via someone's Flickr. Looks cameraphoney, but pretty awesome nonetheless.)
Ever since catching Mogwai at Coachella, I've been digging all sorts of Post-Rock instrumental stuff. Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Even less dire but equally impressive stuff like Octopus Project and Russian Circles. Been really great for long bus rides and these dragging days at work. eMusic has been an absolute goldmine for all this, not just for it's stellar back catalog offerings, but that one 20 minute song takes up the same amount of credits as a 2 minute punk jam.
Anyway, I'm totally eating this stuff up right now. If anyone has suggestions as to what else I should track down that's in the same vein, lemme know. Especially any solid local bands who play around the city a lot. Grazie.
Also, if you're down with FLAC, here's a recording from the aforementioned Mogwai set in Indio (via LHB.)
check out red sparowes, they are from los angeles.

Mono (who are at Northsix on the 19th), and Rachel's (who we all just missed a week or two ago). And you didn't mention Slint, but we'll all just assume you did.
