I'm getting on a plane for wet and lukewarm Los Angeles in a few hours, then on my way to Coachella this weekend. A few parting notes:
Don't wanna go any further without mentioning Sam Champion (above), who really impressed me on Monday night. I love the Two Gallants, but it was not the best show I've seen them do. SC opened for them and were really solid. Much much better than the last time I saw them, which was sort of out of place at Mercury last Summer with a bunch of English bands. Superupbeat and tight as hell. I couldn't believe it was the same band. If you, like me, haven't seen them in a while, go catch them soon. Ferreals
Taking Back Sunday was quite a trip last night. I feel like I say this a lot, but I have NEVER seen Irving this packed. The kids were moshing and crowdsurfing and pumping their fists and singing along like none other. It was all quite surreal. Not really a fan of the band...only even know two or three songs, but they're about to have huge year. Was fun to see them on the cusp of their major label breakout. Miss Mod sums it up nicely. She also took a perfect pic with her cameraphone. The fact that you can't see the band in it is pretty irrelevant. The crowd was the show for me.
Brand New stole my attention last weekend, but The Dresden Dolls 2-hour set at Webster Hall Saturday night was pretty special as well. These guys have the best fans. There were art and photo installations all around the club, kids were out in full goth-y costume and hung out on my little leftside landing waltzing their little twisted hearts out.
Still no hour-to-hour schedule for Coachella up. Curious to see how it all plays out. Everybody complains, but there are a LOT of bands playing this thing I'm excited to see. Haters be damned. Also can't wait to check out Sunset Rubdown in LA the Monday after. One of my top 3 or 4 most listened albums of the year so far. Should be good.
Off for now...be back sometime next week. Maybe a post or two if I get bored or something interesting happens. Peter over at Spin.com is gonna be liveblogging the whole weekend I think, so be sure to check in on that if you're itching for up to the minute Indio gossip.

Back to when Concord watches was in solid ties with Formula 1, and the limited edition models as a consequence of that partnership poured like gasoline in those thirsty big engines. This is one of the children of that relationship.Continuing with the race car parallel, the strap of Alpinas GMT Chronograph captures the luscious and exotic interiors of luxury sports cars. The exterior shell is covered with synthetic fabric that is imprinted with a carbon-fiber-like pattern. It would be nice if some veritable fiber mesh fabric was used to achieve this effect, but if my experience with capricious coramid straps is any indication, this route may actually have been too fragile.
