I was pretty bummed yesterday cause I wasn't paying attention around noon yesterday and totally missed out on snagging Brand New Tickets for Webster Hall. The show sold quickly...in at least 3 hours, maybe faster. If anyone out there happened to snag an extra, (there must be a few readers who dig these guys like I do and were more on the ball) please please let me know.

Yesterday turned out all right tho. I went up to the UCB theatre around 11:00 to see Crash Test with Aziz. It's always a good time, but last night he had a few very special guests perform with him. After telling a few stories about his recent trips to Austin, LA and Aspen, a few bits with his roommates and a screening of Illusionators, which is truly genius on a number of levels, he brought out David Cross to do a lil stand-up bit. It seemed like the majority of the crowd was there without getting tipped off, since I heard quite a few audible holy shit's from the crowd as he came on stage. He ran through a funny set of his borderline offensive humor, including an extended bit about the different ways Hassids try to trick god and the Moyel who sucks the blood out of the infant's circumcision. Good times.

Next was someone I sorta thought was a possibility, knowing he had performed earlier in the night at the theater, but still got an audible holy shit from myself when he was announced. Demetri Martin! I had actually never seen him perform before, so this was quite a treat. He did a set of mostly new jokes he's testing out before he goes on tour in Australia. Most of it killed, some didn't, and he was quick to admit a joke bombed...or realize that it wasn't really a joke at all. Good times too.

Aside from the special guests, Crash Test is such a great forum for Aziz's humor. It's very casual, very conversational. The show didn't get out till around a quarter to one, but I never felt tired or bored. It was naturally engaging just a lot of fun. I should do this kind of thing more often.

I had reservations for Demetri's show last night, but I had to pass in order to rest. His one-man show in the village weeks (months?) ago was one of the funniest things I've seen.

Argh. I was at UCB all night and ended up going home before Crash Test because I couldn't get ahold of Julia. I should have stayed. Oh well. Demetri's one man show was fantastic.

This comment is general, rather than specific to this post --

While the West Village is the western part of "The" Village (Greenwich Village), the "East" Village is a part of the Lower East Side and not part of "The" (Greenwich) Village at all. It is, in effect, a separate "village", east of the other one.

So, "Central Village" doesn't sense. Maybe you should try "Central Villages".

Or maybe you should rethink the whole thing. (Without the proper geographic underpinning, it comes tumbling like a house of cards.)
