Ho hum, another story arc concludes on the OC. Some leave, another (seemingly) perfect girl moves in. Ryan and Marissa are no-go, Summer and Seth are happy. I guess I'm rooting for the new chick, even tho it's so painfully obvious how this is gonna end.
My father and I had dinner earlier last night and he told me that he had been watching the OC recently with my mother. Like the rest of us, he wasn't too big a fan of Johnny. Such a drip, a downer he called him. I agreed, but looking back at him now, he wasn't that bad a kid. Just hit a rough patch, ya know? Maybe it's the Sufjan funeral song I've been playing on repeat for the last 30 minutes, but I think in time we'll look back and remember him fondly. Like Lindsay. Remember Lindsay? She was a nice girl.
All in all, it was a pretty great episode. One of the best this season, which has had its extreme ups and downs. The Sufjan song was just about as perfect as TV show music can get. These guys really know how to pick good mourning music, don't they? Heartbreaking stuff.

(BTW yes, I caught the Death Cab on the Valley jab and actually found it amusing for some reason, unlike most of the show's self-aware humor. I think the Sufjan had just softened me up.)
Jeff...I've really been enjoying your blog for about a year now. You're a great, entertaining writer and I'm interested in most things you talk about. But man, you ruined this week's OC for me. I work Thursday nights, so never get to see the episodes till over the weekend. Usually, you don't give stuff away in the headline so it's never bothered me when you've written about the O.C. the day after, but come on - big cliff hanger and I open my bloglines account to see it killed for me before getting to watch the episode. thanks a lot.

Oh man, I’m sorry. You do find this out in like the first two minutes of the episode, tho. Pre-Phantom Planet. If it was the big shocker at the end of the ep, I surely would have used more discretion. I swear that the episode is hardly ruined.

Jeff, I am going to have to seriously disagree with you on this one. Maybe it's cause I've missed the last few episodes and am a little out of the loop, but I found last week's OC to be so SO so bad. Like, I laughed out loud multiple times at the rididulously bad dialogue, and, I mean, did they just pull that cousin and her corresponding sexual tension out of their asses or what?? Marisa has got to be the most annoying person on the planet. It's too bad her sister has to go back to school, because I was actually enjoying her better than whiney mcgee waif-girl. AND her boyfriend is on my favorite ABC Family teeny-bopper show, Beautiful People. Also felt like the Sufjan got a little ridiculous...I mean it underscored like 65 percent of the episode....

i love the o.c i reckon that they should have killed katlin off because johnny is so hot and is the interesting one in the show.

I loved Johnny. I thought that him & Marissa should've been together. I didn't think they should've killed him off the show so quickly. If they would've wait just a few episodes longer, Ryan & Marissa would've broken up and they could've been together. =[

OMG!! The O.C was my favurite show and I loved Johnny. i love Ryan Donowho he is the hottest guy ever... !!! i cried when johnny died !!! it was awful. i also taped it on my phone!!!

i love Johnny! I think they should have killed Ryan off while he was trying to save Johnny. Johnny was my favourite charactor. I cried my eyes out when he died. :,(
