Forward Thinking

I don't remember when I first heard of Forward Russia!. I know my buddy Greg has mentioned them a bunch, but I just can't remember how or why the name stuck. Regardless, they are playing a live set on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon, and Mark (I think his name is Mark) from Editors just mentioned in an interview that they were the best band they've toured with. Since this city is apparently about 2 weeks away from full-blown Editors fever (their second show sold out in just hours this morning), I suppose that should come as a strong recommendation. Except that they don't really sound anything like them. FR! is more along the lines of Bloc-Party meets The Futureheads meets The Kaiser Chiefs meets Test Icicles meets We are Scientists meets etcetera etcetera...You get the idea. Maybe a bit louder and spazzier version of all those tho. I hear something different in every new song and it's all really really exciting and good.

They'll be at SXSW, then in NYC at Mercury Lounge on March 23.

I have rarely been so excited about a band since I first heard iForward, Russia! last year. I downloaded everything and saw them live a couple of times. Loads of energy live. Something a little emo about them, don;t know if its just the occasional scream. Really hope big things happen for them but strangely I don't even think they have a proper record deal yet.
