It's been quite a while since we had a genuine Craigslist FREAKOUT over a band playing in the city. Well, Editors are coming in a few weeks and they just sold out their Mercury Lounge show in 10 minutes. To compare, it took the Arctic Monkeys weeks before they sold out their first show (which resulted in only a minor freakout, wet blanketed by one of the shows being moved to Bowery). Could this be a throwback to the Bloc Party or Arcade Fire shows at Bowery? Or, dare I say, Beck at Hiro Ballroom?? $100 a ticket? Public sex act requests?? Who knows. It should be a riot.
Be sure to follow along with the fun over the next couple weeks. Nothing really up yet, but just wait. This is what happens when a band that starts poking its head around in May doesn't come play New York till 8 months later...
I'm not going to pay big $$$ to see them, but I am pretty disappointed with how quickly the show sold out. I was really looking forward to it.
Did you score tickets? How?

I think everyone is a little surprised by this. I expected it to take at least 12-18 hours. Ten minutes?!?!

i casually went to get tickets at 1pm and it was already sold out! pssh. i'm going to have to have a contest on my site to win a chance to give ME tickets to this show.

i am so fucking excited for this. luckily i was home sick anyway so i got a pair right at noon. i can not believe it sold out so fast.. good god. i've been going to shows in ny for a few years now, what show has sold out quicker?

Editors? I don't get what all the hubbub is about. Add a few million in sales and a celebrity wife and you've got Coldplay...and everybody hates Coldplay. I hope Parales goes to the show so he can make a case against the Editors, too.

"Editors? I don't get what all the hubbub is about." Precisely why I wanted to check them out for myself.

it sold out so quickly because there weren't very many tickets available to the public -- i'm guessing most tickets went to a press buy. it also went quicker than arctic monkeys because a) there is a full album that has officially been released since july [and leaked a good while before that] and b) they were supposed to play earlier this year then canceled, so awareness is just higher all around.
i got my tickets.

EF, there's so much hubbub-for-hubbub's sake that it's okay to let some of the hub bub by unchecked. I was on the fence about even bothering with this one, and am happy my mind was made up for me.
It's not like they're Canadian.

I saw Editors about a week & a half ago in London...they were really great live. I'm psyched to see them again.
