I'm skeptical when shows and movies are focused too much around marijuana. It's an overplayed and cheap gimmick to get stoners to laugh and make them feel included into society. Lame. Usually.
This new show Weeds on Showtime, however, is in a whole different league. I watched the first episode last night while my roommate was flipping around and was quite impressed. The premise is Mary Louise Parker is a recent widow with two sons. She starts selling pot to the other parents in her wealthy community to help make ends meet. Sounds dumb, right? It's not! The script is really smart, and the acting is on point. If you have Showtime, check it out. If you don't, this is seriously worth signing up for. There's only been one episode and it's available on-demand. I've watched it twice already.
