Last night at the Seaport was my first time seeing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah since really being familiar with their album. I've tried my hardest to stay away from the mud slinging over these guys because I genuinely do love their record, but didn't wanna get thrown in with the rest of the Pitchfork bandwagon. Honestly, before hearing the CD I never thought of them as that great a live band. I mean, not in a league with the Talking Heads and Arcade Fire (The latter of which I've never understood the comparison to). But there's nothing wrong with a bunch of guys who simply go on stage and play great music. No theatrics, no pretense. I enjoy listening to their songs, and that alone made it an enjoyable show. Often that's the most you can hope for. Great Set.
