So today is the first installment of my new column on Gothamist, General Admission. I'll be writing one or two concert reviews a week until the powers that be realize I make up words, write at a 7th grade level and use the same 5 superlatives to describe every band I like. Lets make it good while we've got it tho. Today I review my beer and sweat soaked evening at Roseland last night for the Kings of Leon, Secret Machines, and The Helio Sequence show.
Here's an mp3 of the highlight of my night. The SM's magnificent cover of Dylan's 'Girl From the North Country,' off the Road Leads Where It's Led EP Enjoy.

we'll get you a thesaurus

Can't believe Central Village sold out to the majors. No more indie cred. See you on The OC.

We at the central village comments page second the criticism on the Gothamist house style. It's really getting on our nerves. We don't check the site when we're bored at work so much anymore.

I've had consistently great experiences at Roseland: Sleater-Kinney, Fugazi, Ween, Steely Dan, The Roots, Franz Ferdinand/Blanche... I haven't found the audience there to be any more irritating than anywhere else; for example there were no shortage of Chatty Kathies when I caught Decemberists at Warsaw and TMBG at Irving. Never noticed anything bad about the acoustics, either.
