At the risk of making this look too much like an American Apparel ad, I just wanted to post about the excellent Insound Pre-Siren Party at Rothko tonight and its apparent theme...
SOUND THE ALARM 2: A NIGHT OF SHORTS
What's the best way to get ready for Sirenfest? Come to Insound's annual pre-Sirenfest party on July 15th at Rothko. This year we present Sound the Alarm 2: A Night of Shorts. Yeah, shorts. All night. And free Pabst Blue Ribbon from 9-10pm. The holy trinity of summer: shorts, beer, and rock.Bands
Ponys
Chin Up Chin Up
Be Your Own Pet
RahimWhere:Rothko- 116 Suffolk St, New York, NY
When: Friday, July 15th, Doors 8pm
Brought to you by PBR, WOXY.com, and Oh My RocknessIf you're not wearing shorts: $6
If you're wearing shorts: $5
If you're wearing short shorts: $2
While the only band I can personally vouch for is Chin Up Chin Up, They alone are well worth the price of admission. I've heard only great things about Ponys and Rahim, and the Be Your Own Pet song (Cuddlefish?) I heard on the radio yesterday was awesome. So go! And wear shorts!
of course, this being rothko, doors at 8pm means first band is on at midnight.
i dislike rothko for many reasons, but this is a good lineup. ponys look kinda foppish (in a haircut 100 kind of way) for their rockin' sound; be your own pet are pretty good... well "damn damn leash" at least; and i'm anxious to hear chin up chin up live as their record is great.

the band times are supposed to be 9 (rahim), 10 (be your own pet), 11 (chin up), and 12 (ponys). i'm hoping that we'll be on schedule. but you should get there early, because it's sold out and gonna be nuts. and wear shorts!

The only song by Be Your Own Pet that I have is actually really good. I'll be in my shorts, although, nor too short nor too tight. Get there early for the beer... hopefully I can make it through the Ponys.
