Got the Hard-Fi EP yesterday. It's a bit tough to pin down. The single, Cash Machine, sounds something like Kasabian covering *NSync. Is that good? I dunno what to think quite yet, but it's different and interesting. Certainly fun. They'll be at Mercury Lounge on the 19th with a stacked lineup of up and comers, (Nine Black Alps, Sam Champion and The Cribs) and then at Rothko on the 20th. Here's their version of The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. Everyone loves the contemporary cover, don't they?

Their album, Stars of CCTV, is great. A friend picked up a copy for me over in London last week - it's getting a big push over there, with ads all over the place. Their singles are very strong - especially "Hard to Beat." They like to throw out the dub sound though, such as with this Seven Nation Army cover - not sure if that's a good thing. I think their NYC shows will be rockin'.
