Secret Summer Shows A-Plenty

First off, as Productshop and Brooklyn Vegan mentioned earlier today, The Who are playing at the 450 capacity Gotham Hall (Site of the infamous Flaming Lips show) for a benefit tonight.  I work near that place and walked by on the way home.  Was pretty calm out there at 6:30, but it seemed organized and the people milling around were very dressed up.  No way I was gonna waste my time trying to finagle my way in.  Anybody went, lemme know how it was.

Second, Jay Good Times and his permalinkless new home at Loose Record mentioned that "Bridget Jones Diarrhea", who are playing Mercury Lounge on July 13th is, in fact, a pseudonym for a "Gay, Danceable and Super Fun" band that could "play venues 10 times the size of the Mercury Lounge."  Tickets are sold out on Ticketweb, but a buddy of mine was able to snag some at the Box Office this evening.  My money's on Scissor Sisters.  Any other guesses?

Finally, I happened to check an old e-mail address earlier tonight and got a note regarding The Killers playing a Secret Show at Irving next Monday.  I put my name in, knowing full well I already have a ticket to see Modest Mouse at Summerstage, as well as a commitment to go to the Gothamist Movable Hype show at the Knitting Factory that night.  They say a pair of tickets go to the first 50 emails they got at enter@islanddefjam.com with the subject line KILLERS IRVING PLAZA 6/20 and your Name, Address, Cell #, E-mail address and date of Birth (must be 21+).  Good luck.
