The new Coldplay album is really really good. I honestly can't stop listening to it. I don't think I've been this won over with an album since Rilo Kiley came out with More Adventurous last year.
I really had zero expectations for this thing. Every other major release on my radar over the past 6 months or so (U2, NIN, DMB, Weezer, Oasis...jury's still out on The White Stripes) have been, to varying degrees, disappointing. You just begin to lose hope in bands making a commercially appealing and musically acceptable album anymore. Coldplay absolutely nailed it. I honestly don't know why I'm so surprised. All Chris Martin has ever done is make perfect records. This is no exception.
