I fell asleep before Conor Oberst (I'm sorry, but I refuse to call him Bright Eyes...ESPECIALLY when he's playing solo) went on Leno the other night, but I'm sorry I missed it. I think the song is a bit trite, but somehow, while watching this performance it finally connected with me. This is the first time I gave two shits about the guy since first heard 'Lover I Don't Have to Love' however many years back. That, combined with my new love affair with The Faint, and the fact that I did like the Digital Ash album better than the other one, finally was enough for me to buy a ticket to the final night of his run at Webster Hall.
I felt kind of dumb shivering through the Black Star set I wasn't really enjoying Sunday night at Coachella while there was a perfectly good alternative right nearby. I guess if this guy is playing two blocks away for five nights, and someday I turn into a bigger fan of his, I'd feel pretty foolish to have missed him again.
Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, watch the Video of Conor on Leno here.
Brooklyn Vegan, Tale of Two Cities and Daily Kos also chime in.
