The Quiz

No introduction necessary.

1) Do you own a "vintage" T-shirt purchased at Urban Outfitters?
No.  Growing up in an actual urban environment myself, I grew very quickly to resent the store's concept.  I don't really own "vintage" shit anyway, tho.  The only T-shirts I own that might fall into the category are old High School Basketball and Volleyball tournament giveaway tees.
2) Have you been "on the list" at a rock show at least once in the past month?
Yes.  But I nearly always buy my own tickets.  I don't normally like asking for favors, and I don't wanna ever be in the position where I really wanna see something that's sold out, but I didn't get a ticket cause I thought I could get on the list.
3) Are your white iPod earbuds a source of pride?
Absolutely not.  I Bought a pair of nice black earbuds at J & R that are much more comfortable and sound great.
4) Do you know what "grime" is?
Yes.
5) Have you ever done a Web search to find the name of a song used in a VW ad?
No.  I did look up the Saturn ad with the The Walkmen's "We've Been Had" back in college.
6) Do you have a Gmail account?
Yes.  And 50 invites.  If anybody is looking to up their score, um, e-mail me.
7) Did "Garden State" speak to you as no other film ever as?
Ugh.  Everything up until they leave the boat at the bottom of the pit was fine.  Everything after, from the inexplicable first kiss to the slapped together ending was just plain awful.
8) Do you own at least one white belt?
Psssh.  I have a Brown Leather, 2 Black Leather, and a red Abercrombie nylon belt, circa 1995.
9) Do you have a fully articulated stance on Bright Eyes?
Yes.  I used to hate the dude in both principal and practice, but he's grown on me of late.  Looking forward to the show next week.  I've articulated my feelings more in the past.
10) Do you regularly read Paste, the NME, and/or the New Yorker?
Yes.  I read the New Yorker when my Uncle has an article in it, but that's about it.  I usually check NME.com every day, and if I see the mag in a store I'll flip through.  I have no idea what Paste is, except that Scott was giving away a subscription for the contest that inspired this quiz.
11) Do you have a TiVO?
I have a DVR, technically, as well as an old TiVO in a closet somewhere that I no longer use.
12) If yes, do you have a season pass to one or more of the following: "The O.C.," "Best Week Ever," "Gilmore Girls," "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic?"
Yes.  The OC has been on season pass since Episode 1.
13) Have you ever paid more than $50 for one pair of jeans?
I don't own a pair of jeans.
14) Do you have a blog?
Yes
15) Are you confused as to whether or not it's OK to like Coldplay?
Honestly, yes.  "If it's OK" is a cheesy way to put it, but just last Tuesday I thought long and hard if I really liked them enough to be excited to goto an intimate show of theirs.  I couldn't decide.  I ended up not going, but for various other reasons.

So my final score?  9.  Although, one can argue that many of my answers implicate myself as an even greater "Indie-Yuppie" than the question intends to suggest.  Whatevs.   I think the term Indie-Yuppie is kinda lame tho, but I guess it stuck.  Too many questions on this quiz, much like Lindsay pointed out regarding the contest, sort of ignores the "yuppie" side and focuses squarely on the indie characteristics.  I'm more of an I-Y in the defined sense than a a so called "emo-indie kid"...that's for sure.

Related:  Is there a bigger I-Y than the Gopster?  I don't think I've ever shared a blogroll with Michelle Malkin, nor have I been so brazenly labeled as a "hipster" before...

Suggested Reading: Bobos in Paradise.  Our parent's generation I-Y's.  The first chapter so accurately describes my parents' friends and my friends' parents in High School.  Bourgeois Bohemians...now that's a perfect label.

You don't own any jeans?

I scored an 8.

I had a white belt but it was one of those $2 cheapies I bought on 28th street, and I threw it away last year.

Haven't seen Garden State, can readily admit it's OK to like Coldplay, don't even own an MP3 player, threw out my white belt last year, don't own a TIVO, I'm constantly on guest lists and I obviously have a blog.

I don't own a pair of jeans.<-----????

I don't own any jeans. Don't like the way they look or feel, really. Rock khakis and chords usually.

let's not forget that incredible article on twixters
